I have to say i am impressed. Ruptured single packs are usually the brand or if using your own grounds from over-filling or the fineness of grind. It doesn’t have the “instant” gratification as my keurig (of which model is discontinued); however, if the needle gets clogged the thing can come out for an easy thorough clean following manufacture direction. But, i did check and it on my machine and will be no ordeal. What i put in is what i got. I heard the lovely sound of percolation then coffee running in my cup. I used the enclosed brewing cup and my own ground brand. There was a fine misty steam which i think i saw a review of “smoke” either here or another site.

Does not take up too much room on counter. Conveniently brews pods or filtered individual cup as well as a full pot. Just make sure coffee is not too finely ground as it will clog the filters.

Easy to operate, and makes a great cup or pot of coffee. We always felt bad about using pods all the time; not good for the environment. This machine allows you to use loose ground coffee to make one cup at a time. Keep that plastic out of the landfill.

We had a similar coffee maker. It was a hamilton beach flex brew with a glass carafe. The display became too dim read and would no longer heat and pump the water. We purchase another but with an insulated steel carafe. It doesn’t have a heating plate for the carafe and the carafe only keeps the coffee hot for about 45minutes to an hour. Really disappointing it didn’t have a heat plate. The heat plate on our old one kept the coffee hot for two hours before it shut off. It didn’t mention in the add that it did not have a heat plate. I just assumed it did as it looked exactly like our old one.

Coffee is as essential to some of us as a morning shower. When you add the fact of three grown men trying to get a cup of coffee simultaneously, that could spell disaster. I love the two-brew system, you can program the strength of the brew, set your timer, and it’s ready for you in the morning. I love the feature of being able to pre-program two brews, one pot for my mates, and a 16-ounce keuric for myself. Cleaning has been very easy, just follow the manufacturer’s suggestions for cleaning and it stays nice and fresh. I would recommend this flexbrew to anyone looking to purchase a new coffee machine or for a gift.

It’s great to have both features for single, carafe, and travel mugs. I would like it to keep the coffee hotter.

I bought a new basket and filter holder because it kept overflowing no matter how well i cleaned it. No, i didn’t submerge the flex brew in water. I was ready for a pot of coffee and noticed the new filter holder was retaining the coffee. I fiddled with the spring feed and the coffee brewed. Next thing i noticed was smoke coming up from the back. Never buying hamilton beach again.

I purchased this as there are four of us around the house most weekdays and 6 total coffee drinkers in the house (some wanting decaf, and some regular) and i wanted everyone to be able to make a single cup of coffee without buying k-cups. The machine works great and the coffee is hot enough. Only downside of the refillable “single cup” filter is that the used coffee grounds won’t come out when the filter is tapped over the trash can/compost bin so you need to clean them out with a spoon and dispose and then rinse the unit out with water over a garbage disposal, etc. So grounds don’t go down drain and cause clogging. Be aware that the cord for the unit is quite short (a foot or less) when you are planning where to put the machine. The water has to be loaded near the back for each “kuerig” style cup and for each pot of coffee as well so you will need to pull it out a bit to add the water if there is an overhanging cabinet. I just love the thermal carafe which keeps coffee hot for a long time. If you are interested in a permanent metal filter for the carafe side of the unit then i would suggest buying the mr. Coffee universal basket filter even though it runs close to $15. I bought a generic basket filter at a big box store and it was too short by an inch for making a full carafe and caused an overflow of grounds into the coffee when i first tried it out for company.

The main reason i bought this unit many years ago was because you can pour in and brew 16oz of keurig coffee into your travel mug (most are only 10 or 12oz). Value for the money:i’m had the original flex-brew with the glass pot for maybe 6 years (and gifted to many other people) – all still working and you cannot beat the price. One negative:if you brew the coffee and then use the keurig, the warmer for the pot turns off. I get up in the morning and brew coffee, then my husband makes his coffee in with the keurig, and i end up reheating the brewed coffee in the microwave. Stainless steel carafe & glass:we moved and purchased this flex-brew and i was excited the brewed coffee would stay hotter in s/s than the glass. It’s a better, but not doesn’t maintain the heat i was hoping for. You cannot control the warmer being on/off. Overall, this is a great unit. We even bought the hamilton beach keurig single unit (which is just the keurig half of this unit).

Like that i can do a pot of coffee or just a k-cup. Only downfall is canister doesn’t keep coffee warm long. I’m still happy with my purchase though.
